OSHA's 2014 Inspection Priorities

Mid-year review of OSHA's Site-Specific Targeting Program. Under the Site-Specific Targeting 2014 Program (SST-14), OSHA has issued its annual inspection plan. After analyzing data collected from a survey of 80,000 establishments, the plan is directing enforcement resources to workplaces focusing on reducing injuries and illnesses.

Fatal Injury Trends in the Workplace, 1992–2011

In April of this year, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released a summary of fatal injury statistics with data collected from 1992 to 2011. The goal of the fatal injury summary is to better understand fatal injury trends in the workplace.

Reducing Hazards To Temporary Workers

In 2013, an enforcement initiative was launched by OSHA focusing on the improvement of safety measures for temporary workers. OSHA defines "temporary workers" as workers that are supplied to a host employer and paid by a staffing agency. This applies whether the worker's job is temporary or not. OSHA's enforcement initiative focuses on identifying temporary workers, evaluating whether they are exposed to any safety hazards, and determining if they have received proper training and protection.
